The gift

My husband’s friend has some cigar gifts for him. His friend bought them when he went to US a month ago. However my husband doesn’t smoke so i told him to accept the gift but just give them later to his other friends. But this morning, i’m having second thoughts about giving them away since we should be promoting healthy living. Anyway, we’ll decide on what to do with them later.

2014 Range Rover Sport officially unveiled

The 2014 Range Rover Sport has been finally unveiled ahead of its public debut scheduled for the 2013 New York Auto Show.

The new generation of the Range Rover Sport, which is wearing the 2014 model year in its name, is finally here and the first official images and details of the popular SUV have been released by the British based automaker. The 2014 Range Rover Sport has gained a lot in features and build quality, especially in the cabin, where JLR has also incorporated a third row of seats, amongst others, making this one more vehicle in which to take your kids to school.

The 2014 Range Rover Sport is now coming with a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine for the base entry-level model, which is replacing the 5.0 liter naturally aspirated Jaguar-sourced V8 unit, but the top of the line Range Rover Supercharged will receive a 5.0 liter V8, which is producing a total output of 510 HP. JLR says that both units are equipped with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, with an optional low-range and two-speed transfer case, along with a standard single-speed Torsen differential, which should optimize its off-road performance.

Just a staycation

A few days from now i can finally have my much needed vacation. The Lenten season is the much awaited holiday vacation by all employees like me. During Holy Week we have a four day straight vacation. For most Filipinos, this is the time where families go on a vacation or to some just simply stay at home and enjoy bonding time together.

My sister’s family is now in Hongkong  for a 3 days 2 night vacation. While as for us we will just have a staycation since we don’t have money to spend even on an out of town trip. I told my children to just enjoy their vacation at home. I will just prepare foods for them to enjoy and we’ll just watch movies, listen to gospel music or play the keyboard and guitar. I borrowed my friend’s les paul guitar for my son because he will take guitar lessons this summer.

I know my kids our quite envious with their cousins, so I hope and pray that next year we could also give them the out of the country vacation they are dreaming of.

FDA warns against 3 organic health products

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration over the weekend warned the public against three “unregistered” organic health products that claim to cure cancer.

In its advisory, the FDA said it had instructed its monitoring teams to coordinate with local government units in seizing the products.

Named in the advisory were:

– Aro Baro Churo Organic Tea
– Aro Guyabano Tea
– Aro Baro Churo Guyabano Capsules

“These products are not only ineffective and expensive, but they may cause adverse reactions and events, some of which may be life-threatening,” it said.

The FDA said the three products were being sold and distributed nationwide with claims they were “10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy and that they contain Adriamycin that can kill cancer cells.”

But verification showed these products were “neither registered as herbal drugs nor as food supplements.”

Following its findings, the FDA warned the public not to buy these products, or “any food supplements or herbal drug preparations that are not approved by the FDA or any products that claim to cure, treat or mitigate any form of cancer diseases.”

Meanwhile, the FDA instructed its regional field offices to monitor and check for these products in the market.

It also ordered its inspectors to coordinate with local government units to make sure these products do not proliferate in the market.

“All unregistered product found in all outlets or in the possession of vendors shall be seized immediately and reports shall submitted to the FDA Legal Support Service Center for appropriated actions,” it said. — DVM, GMA News

Print Management Software

I have discovered an interesting software while surfing the internet, it is called Print Management Software. This software is a must have for any kind of business organization that is wanting to reduce their operational costs or wastages. Printing activities can also increase wastages if not managed properly.

If you have concerns like this in your organization or business then consider getting a print management software. This software can manage the printers, has control over then number of prints limiting the print quota for each user, counting printed documents and recording printer usages. This will definitely cut your costs in terms of useless consumption of ink and paper. It will also save the time of your employees.

5.6-magnitude earthquake hits Taiwan

TAIPEI- A shallow 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook buildings in Taiwan’s capital Taipei today, the US Geological Survey said, but there were with no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The quake struck at 11:36 a.m. (0336 GMT), 36 kilometres northwest of Hualien city on the east coast, at a depth of just nine kilometres, the USGS said.

Taiwan’s Seismology Centre said the tremor was felt across the island, confirming the 5.6 magnitude, but the National Fire Agency said that there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Taiwan lies near the junction of two tectonic plates and is regularly hit by earthquakes. In September 1999, a 7.6-magnitude quake killed around 2,400 people in the deadliest natural disaster in the island’s recent history.
