MANILA, Philippines – After a series of botched plans to return to the country, Nora Aunor will finally come home on July 21.

A despedida party in her honor was tendered by her friends in Glendale, California recently as reported by “TV Patrol” July 18.

Nora’s homecoming after eight years of stay in the US is a much-awaited event to her die-hard fans. She is set to shoot a film about a historical figure upon her return to the country.

“Ayoko na nga sanang lumabas kung tutuusin…hindi walang biro.  Kaya lang nakaka-miss din naman ‘yung ginagawa mo noon bilang artista,” she said.

The film, “El Presidente,” is about Philippine national hero Emilio Aguinaldo to be played by Laguna Governor ER Ejercito.

“Pumayag na po si Nora Aunor to play the second wife of Emilio Aguinaldo,” Gov. Ejercito announced two weeks back on PEP.

“Nora Aunor will be playing Maria Agoncillo, who’s from Batangas.”

Actually, Nora was second choice to play the part, after it was offered to and turned down by Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, who cited conflict in schedule as her reason.

Filming of “El Presidente” will start immediately after the film production of “Kingpin.”

“Magpapagupit na po ako, magpapa-chato. Then, papadalhan na po namin ng plane ticket si Nora, itse-check-in namin sa isang hotel na malapit sa Aguinaldo Shrine. All of her scenes will be shot in Aguinaldo Shrine, e,” ER said, adding that Nora will shoot for one week.

“The scenes will be with me and Nora and ‘yung secretary ni Aguinaldo, and hopefully nga with Quentin Tarantino (Hollywood director).

“One week po kaming magsu-shooting. Tatapusin po namin ang mga eksena, ‘yung iinterbyuhin ni Tarantino si Aguinaldo, kasama si Nora. Siya ang second wife, e.”

At her send-off party, Nora shared that all she received from her well-meaning friends were “puro pangaral.”

Talks of Nora’s return gained momentum after she was reportedly set to ink a contract with a network. It was also rumored then that she’s set to appear in the network’s talent show as a judge. But nothing came out of it. Negotiations for the Superstar’s return to the limelight reportedly suffered a major setback because no concrete project awaits her until “El Presidente” came along.

False alarm?

However, in a PEP article which came out July 19, German Moreno, Nora’s closest friend and confidante, disclosed that the July 21 homecoming of the Superstar will not push through.

“Inuulit ko, isang text ang ipinadala ni Ate Guy kay Albert Sunga [Nora’s spokesman] na naglalaman na hindi siya matutuloy ng July 21, Thursday,” Kuya Germs announced on his radio program “Walang Siesta,” July 18.

According to the PEP report, Nora has a prior commitment which makes it impossible for her to return to the country on the said date.

The TV host said that Nora might arrive first week of August. But, he warns everyone that “wala pang kasiguraduhan ‘yun, mas magandang hintayin na lang natin ‘yung sinabi niyang date kung darating talaga siya.”

(AP) – With rumors swirling for days, it comes as no surprise that Twitter announced the acquisition of TweetDeck, which lets Twitter users organize the brands, celebrities, news feeds and people they “follow” on the platform. Users can also monitor their Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media accounts. Analysts said the deal makes sense.

Twitter says it has bought TweetDeck, a London-based startup that helps people read, write and organize the short messages posted on the online network .

Twitter is not giving financial terms, though published reports have pegged the price at $40 million. The San Francisco company said in a blog post Wednesday that the TweetDeck team has joined Twitter. TweetDeck will continue to be based in London and its users will continue to be able to use the application . TweetDeck has 15 employees.

Founded in 2008, TweetDeck lets Twitter users organize the brands, celebrities, news feeds and people they “follow” on the short messaging  platform. Users can also monitor their Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media accounts.

Analysts said the deal makes sense. TweetDeck has “some great technology ” and a lot of users, said Wedbush Morgan’s Lou Kerner.

In a blog post, TweetDeck said its focus will continue to be “providing high-quality tools and services for the Twitter-centric power -user.”

“The mainstream Twitter user-base is well catered for by twitter.com and the official mobile  clients,” said TweetDeck founder and CEO Iain Dodsworth in a blog post. “And by becoming part of the official platform, TweetDeck will now fill that role for brands, influencers, the highly active and anyone that just needs `more power.’”

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing icon and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao has to knock out Juan Manuel Marquez, says 4-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Roach said that Pacquiao needs to win by knockout “100%.”

“I’m going to plead with him… ‘Do your job and knock him out and don’t let him off the hook,’” Roach said.

Roach had earlier said that he will urge Pacquiao to knock out Marquez so that there will be no doubt as to who is the better fighter.

The November 12 bout will be the 3rd between the two fighters.

In their first bout in 2004, Pacquiao had knocked Marquez down 3 times in the first round. Yet the Filipino settled for a controversial draw.

The rematch in 2008 ended in a close split decision victory for Pacquiao.

Because of the questions surrounding the two previous bouts, Roach says that Pacquiao needs to do everything he can to knock out the stubborn Mexican warrior.

But Roach is not underestimating Marquez.

“He will get ready for Manny and he will fight us,” Roach said. “He won’t go into a shell – like some other people have done in the past.”

RIYADH (Xinhua) – The Saudi interior ministry recently announced that the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Tab will no longer be allowed inside the country’s security institutions, Al-Arabiya news channel reported Wednesday.

The Saudi interior ministry cited concerns that these gadgets may be easily infiltrated via hacking, Al-Arabiya reported.

Also, IT specialists and experts reiterated the ministry’s security concerns and agreed that these gadgets could potentially impinge on the privacy of people and institutions.

Al-Arabiya said that Saudi Arabia is not the first country that issues the ban, as the United States and a number of European countries have done the same at security organizations.

It is not clear why the Saudi ministry think that these two gadgets in particular are more susceptible to an attack than any other smartphone or tablet.
