Twitter may have been the site of many a word war among celebrities, but that is not the case for Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay. Apparently, the social microblogging site has actually brought the two stars closer.
A recent report on “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN)” attests to the two having developed a “unique friendship” while filming their still-untitled Star Cinema film with Anne Curtis. Their rapport had apparently stemmed from Derek’s interest in the intricacies of the popular site.
“Mayroon lang siyang (Derek) questions about Twitter, pero ‘yon lang,” Cristine was quoted as saying by “SNN.”
Derek is a Twitter newbie who hopped on the bandwagon only last June 8. But has already been active on the site, tirelessly answering random comments and greetings from his more than 48,000 followers.
Asked by a fan what prompted him to join Twitter, Derek tweeted back, “Angel got me into it,” pertaining to his long-time girlfriend, Angelica Panganiban.
Cristine, on the other hand, is quite the “experienced” celebrity Twitter users, having been using the site since 2009. Her Twitter page also became a magnet for controversy a few times with her often-blunt tweets about her personal and professional life.
Derek was originally tapped to be Cristine’s leading man for her forthcoming ABS-CBN drama series, “Reputasyon.” However, due to a conflict in scheduling, Derek was officially replaced by Cristine’s real-life sweetheart, Rayver Cruz.
The upcoming movie of Cristine, Anne and Derek will reportedly center on “forbidden love” and will require the three stars to do intimate scenes. In spite of this, Angelica has nothing to worry about, as Derek himself said in an earlier tabloid report,”It’s just work.”
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino said she’s not open to the idea of inviting her estranged husband, James Yap, to guest on her comeback talk show “Kris TV”, which aired its pilot episode last Monday, June 27.
Aquino said that their failed marriage was due in part to the lack of privacy, and now that Yap is living on his own, she will give in to the cager’s request for privacy.
“Part of the reason siguro why he [felt] that our marriage didn’t work was the lack of privacy. So ngayon na hiwalay na kami, bakit pa natin pa-iingayin ang buhay niya? Give him his privacy,” Aquino told “Showbiz News Ngayon”.
Aquino said that what is important now is Yap maintains a relationship with their son, James Yap Jr. a.k.a. Bimby.
“Ang pinaka-importante naman ang relationship niya with Bimby, and ‘yon, that’s private. Let it stay that way,” Aquino said.
She added: “Kasi mas OK na ‘yong hindi kami nag-aaway, hindi kami nagkaka-iritahan. Kasi kapag healthy ang relationship namin, healthy ang relationship niya with Bimby.”

LOS ANGELES – Representatives of Lady Gaga on Tuesday denied claims of a scam over sales of the singer’s wristbands for Japan’s earthquake relief efforts.
They described a lawsuit targeting the pop star and other companies involved in the sale and marketing of the $5 white and red “We Pray for Japan” rubber bracelets as misguided and without merit.
“This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan,” Gaga’s representatives said in a statement.
Michigan legal network, 1800LAWFIRM, filed a lawsuit last week alleging that not all of the proceeds from the wristband sales were going to help victims of the March earthquake and tsunami, as Lady Gaga had pledged on her website. The federal class action also claimed that shipping costs were inflated.
The lawsuit was filed on Friday while the “Born This Way” singer was in Japan for a benefit concert.
“The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements. Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continues to support the victims of the disaster,” Tuesday’s statement said.
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, is reported to have donated about $3 million to Japan disaster relief through sales of the wristbands and other ventures.
Lady Gaga was last month named the most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine, based on her earnings, media visibility and social media popularity.

MANILA, Philippines – Boxing champion and Sarangani Congressman Manny Pacquiao is now a top 20 recording artist.
“Sometimes When We Touch”, Pacquiao’s duet with singer-songwriter Dan Hill, reached number 19 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary top 20 list.
The song has been climbing up the list up from the number 25 spot last week. It has become the third most added song on radio playlists in the US.
In an article on Boxingscene.com, Hill’s radio promotion guy, Tom Mazetta, said the song is one of Hill’s biggest hits and one that still gets a considerable amount of airplay decades later.
“Last but certainly not least, there is undeniably a ‘novelty’ factor at play here. Manny Pacquiao, I mean come on!! I want to know what this guy CANNOT do!!!”
Made popular by his rendition on the Jimmy Kimmel live show, Pacquiao recorded this latest version with the song’s original writer Dan Hill, and released the track earlier this year. A portion of the song was also featured in Pacquiao’s ad for HP. Report by Nadia Trinidad, ABS-CBN News
