Lala’s artist and label partners will offer exclusive tracks and free MP3 downloads to help showcase the Google functionality, Lala said.

“These tracks can all be found through a simple Google search, and as with all Lala tracks you find through Google, you can preview them full-length from the Lala player. Of course, these tracks are all also available on Lala,” the company said in a blog post.

The five free downloads include: “Still” by Tim McGraw; “Lasso (2 Door Cinema Club RMX)” by Phoenix; “Keep It Goin’ Louder (Diplo Remix)” by Major Lazer; “History (a capella)” by Mos Def; and “Darling (Acoustic)” by Zee Avi.

Meanwhile, Lala and MySpace will offer access to 17 exclusive tracks, including “Torch Song (Demo From Crash Love Sessions)” by AFI and “Catapult” by Artic Monkeys, as well as tracks by Bon Jovi, Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Snoop Dogg.

Late last month, Google unveiled a new music search feature that will include in its search results streaming music clips from partners like MySpace, Lala, Pandora, imeem, and Rhapsody.

Type in an artist’s name, song, or a snippet of lyrics into Google.com and the top of the search results page will include links to song clips. Click on a link and a pop-up window will appear for MySpace, Lala, or the provider you’ve selected. Play the song directly on Google, or click through to listen on the partner site.

“We’ve really been focused on discovery, music consumption, and music purchasing – that’s the experience that we try to put together in a holistic way for the user,” Bill Nguyen, Lala founder and chairman, said at the time.

The album cover features the group with their arms positioned to spell out a word in flag semaphore. According to cover photographer Robert Freeman, “I had the idea of semaphore spelling out the letters HELP. But when we came to do the shot the arrangement of the arms with those letters didn’t look good. On the British Parlophone release, the letters formed by The Beatles appear to be ‘NUJV’, whilst the slightly re-arranged U. S. release on Capitol Records appeared to feature the letters ‘NVUJ’.
